Tea Gardens Regatta

What a great regatta, Tea Gardens really put it on in their usual style. An enjoyable BBQ tea on Wednesday night encouraged a very sociable atmosphere as old sailing friends exchanged lies and stories about their sailing endeavors.

Thursday saw a team from Bayside of Jenny, Bob Hogg, Greg Anderson Jason Rootes, Greg Scott, Mark Esdaile Keith Dove and yours truly, all keen to recover the trophy.

Two members of Vincentia were there on the day and a no show from Terrigal.

Thursday started in better than the usual Tea Gardens breeze and gradually built during the day to quite a reasonable wind. Tea Gardens had spent a lot of time weed cleaning and I think Jason was to only one to encounter a problem. The fleet was divided by a draw into two and we started with a scratch for the first race and then adjusted the starting on the 30,20,10 method. Three races for each group before lunch and a restart of the handicaps with a scratch race and two handicap races after lunch.

Racing concluded at about 3:30 with enough time for a shower and a smarten up for drinks and dinner. Again dinner was Tea Gardens exceptional standard.

We did regain 'That Cup' and Vincentia offered to be the hosts in 2016.

It was a regatta to remember and I have posted a few photos below for your enjoyment.

Apologies for the 'sideways' photos the YOLA editor seems to have a mind of its own.

TERRIGAL REGATTA

While others less fortunate sweltered on the day our sailors spent a very enjoyable day near the ocean at the Terrigal regatta.

Held 23/11/2014 it was a great day. Central Coast hosts put on a wonderful day of sailing well organised and lunch was tops.

Bayside came away winners on the day - Jason Rootes took home the overall trophy and other Bayside people took home all the minor trophies.

These photos are thanks to Ross Smith

Please set your cameras in the future to 'email quality' for photos on this website = 3Mb photos are too big - I need about 400Kb.

Trophy and Thank-you BBQ

Group members enjoyed a great BBQ and Trophy Presentation for competition handicap and scratch races during the 2013/2014 season. others who supported the sailing during the year were also acknowledged and rewarded. Click on any image for an enlarged view.

Even more photos from Keith - Keith has produced a video of the day - ask for a DVD and enjoy a great look

The first interclub regatta involving the new Central Coast Wee Nip Group was held recently at Shingles Splitters. Tea Gardens and Bayside made up the fleet. A great day of sailing and socialising saw Central Coast take the cup. The photos were kindly taken by Rein from Bayside group.

Sailing at Alberts - cold and wet but the sailing was great. Warm and comfy in Alberts boatshed for coffee and bickies was a relief.
